Sales Manager

As our Sales Manager you'll work with our sales and marketing team and Penguin Random House. You'll work closely with our Marketing Manager to make sure that our sales efforts are on track.
You must be able to multitask, manage a team, communicate effectively and have the creativity and experience to identify sales trends and build campaigns. You should also be able to evaluate ongoing sales programs, and revise as necessary.
About You
You should be a highly-organized, adaptable, self-starter with good communications skills who is able to work independently and as part of a team. You should have a passion for books and willingness to learn about our titles. You should have extensive experience and knowledge of the book publishing industry, sales, and marketing.
Responsibilities
You'll do real work from day one as you:
- Plan, direct, and coordinate the movement of books to customers by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.
- Use your knowledge of markets and statistics to determine sales potential and inventory requirements for our books.
- Oversee sales channels and accounts handled directly by our worldwide distributor, PRHPS.
- Deliver sales presentations to the team at PRHPS and other distributors.
- Provide feedback regarding sell-in of titles and account needs.
- Implement company goals, direction, and requirements.
- Create sales materials, track sales, reach out to key accounts.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills
- Proactive with strong follow-up skills
- A four year college degree
10+ years of sales experience in the book, gift, or a related industry
Salary range: $80,000 to $100,000 per year DOE.

Senior Acquisitions Editor
The No Starch Press Senior Acquisitions Editor is an entrepreneur. You will acquire, develop, manage, and support book projects throughout the editorial process as you work to make them great. This is a creative and demanding job, requiring excellent judgment and interpersonal skills, the ability to engage with technical writing at a deep and detailed level, and the ability to track multiple projects through the manuscript development process. You must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and in close collaboration with your peers. You should have 8-10 years experience editing technical books.
You will be editing computer-focused, technical manuscripts. You will be expected to grasp technical content at a high level. You should understand the intended reader, have a vision for the scope of the book, think about how to reach your readers, and be able to independently direct and support your authors.
Responsibilities
- Analyze markets, identify opportunities, and find great authors
- Prepare manuscripts for production
- Develop manuscripts for clarity, structure, and quality
- Hire technical reviewers, manage multiple projects, and keep things on track.
- Draft marketing copy, including back cover text
Requirements
- Ten (10) years hands-on editing experience in technical book publishing or a related field.
- Familiarity with technical jargon and programming terms.
- Project management experience, ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent writing skills. You should be able to turn muddy technical writing into art.
- Experience with Word, LibreOffice, and ideally LaTeX/Overleaf.
- Bachelor's degree.
